Kurzen
Benedicte Kurzen is a freelance photojournalist and full member of NOOR photo agency, whose career has taken her from conflict zones in Gaza, Iraq and Lebanon to an enduring focus on Africa — its politics, people and social change. Her work has spanned collaborations with MSF and Amnesty International, co-founding the Eve Photographers collective, and long-form projects on post-apartheid South Africa and Nigeria. Awards include a World Press Photo prize (2019), a Pulitzer Center grant, and a nomination for the Visa d'Or. She publishes regularly in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Le Monde Magazine and Newsweek. Benedicte is currently collaborating on The Custodians — a portrait series exploring individuals and communities who serve as living archives of Yoruba indigenous culture, art, language and spirituality.
