Lucy SM
Johnston

London-born artist and writer Lucy SM Johnston works across painting, drawing and photography — largely self-taught and unafraid of paint, chaos and dirt. Originally graduating in Fashion Design from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, she went on to work in film before finding her way to a practice defined by bold colour and restless discipline-crossing. Her visual work has been featured in The Times, The Evening Standard, The Telegraph, The Big Issue, LivingEtc and Campaign Magazine, and she regularly undertakes portrait commissions. As a writer, her articles have appeared in The Independent, and her play 'I Could Be So Better' was performed at the Arcola Theatre, Dalston.
